Arsenal leading the race to sign Canadian striker

Jonathan David news

David to Arsenal?

Arsenal are reportedly set to compete with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in the race to sign Genk forward Jonathan David.

The 20-year-old has been hugely impressive in the Belgian top-flight this term and he has contribute 18 goals and eight assists from just 27 appearances.

According to Goal.com, the north London side are looking into the prospect of signing the Canada international amid the uncertain future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose contract expires next summer.

The same outlet claims that Genk could be tempted to accept a fee of around £17.5m when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.

Dortmund and Leipzig are also in the running to sign the marksman but agent Nick Mavromaras has recently admitted that his client could head to the Emirates.

David has more than three years remaining on his existing deal with Genk. He has already made 12 appearances for his national side, contributing 11 goals in the process.
