Liverpool optimistic of signing 24-year-old forward
Liverpool are optimistic of landing the signature of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig despite the increased competition for the player's services.
The Germany international has been in sublime form for the Bundesliga outfit this campaign and he has already notched 27 goals and 12 assists from just 36 appearances.
According to Bild, the Merseyside outfit are eager to land the signature of Werner during the next transfer window and are prepared to trigger the relatively affordable release clause of £50m.
The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the versatile forward but the Reds are positive about their chances of signing the ex-Stuttgart graduate.
Werner may not be assured a regular starting role with the presence of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the Reds' attack but reports claim that he could still prefer a move to Anfield.
Werner has more than three years remaining on his current deal with Leipzig.
