Chelsea, Arsenal still interested in Brazilian defender

Chelsea and Arsenal are still interested in signing Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille. Everton are currently in advanced negotiations to land the centre-back.

A recent report claimed that the Toffees have already agreed on a £30m fee for the central defender and they expect to sign him during the summer.

However, according to ESPN, that does not appear the case and Lille are awaiting counter-offers from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal - both of whom have previously made an enquiry.

Gabriel has made 34 appearances for the French outfit this term and he has been impressive with his strong tackling abilities, physical presence and long-ball distribution.

Meanwhile, reports elsewhere indicate that the centre-back had undergone a medical with the Toffees last month but a deal could not be finalised due to the coronavirus outbreak.

This has allowed Lille to re-assess their options and they are now looking to sell the defender to the highest bidder. Gabriel only signed a fresh three-year deal with Lille earlier this year.
