Manchester United join race for Dayot Upamecano

Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano during the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman has only 14 months remaining in his existing deal at Leipzig and he has no intention of signing a new contract with the side.
As a result, Leipzig will be determined to sanction his sale at the end of the season and France Football reports that the Red Devils are set to compete with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for the centre-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have stuck with the combination of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for most of the season and they have impressed in the backend of the season with numerous clean sheets.
Still, the manager seems keen on landing a new centre-back to potentially partner Maguire and reports claim that Upamecano is a cheaper alternative to Kalidou Koulibaly, who would cost nearly £75m from Napoli.
Upamecano presently has a release clause of £53m on his contract but his club are willing to sell him for £35m as they face the possibility of losing him for nothing next summer.
