Huntelaar: transfer mover

Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is surely going to be one of the big transfers this summer transfer window. The question is, where will he head off to?

The list of teams queueing up for the Dutch striker's signature continues to grow. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Milan are all being linked with the Ajax front man.

The player has been in inspired form since joining Ajax in 2006 from Heerenveen, and continues to show why so many teams covet his signature as this season he is already top of the goalscoring charts.

The 24-year-old is reminiscent in style of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who spent a spell at Man Utd and currently plays for Real Madrid. Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson reportedly has targeted Huntelaar to be Wayne Rooney's future partner at Old Trafford.

One thing is for sure, Huntelaar is going to cost a lot of money. This may put off Ferguson in his chase for the striker. However, Chelsea are one of the few sides that could afford the player. Figures of around £20 million have been suggested, and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will bankroll the move if Avram Grant believes he will add a little extra to his squad. Frank Arnesen has already informed the club's chairmen that Huntelaar must be considered this summer.

Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster too has admitted an interest in Huntelaar; and £20 million is available for the signing of the player. One stumbling block for Real Madrid could be their already apparent glut of strikers: Robinho, van Nistelrooy, Raul et al.

One thing is for sure, wherever Huntelaar goes, he is sure to be a regular goalscorer. 66 goals in 79 games for Ajax proves that.
