Manchester United enter race to sign top Liverpool target
Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, who has been tipped to join Liverpool over the past few months.
Werner has had a superb season with Leipzig and he has amassed 27 goals and 12 assist from just 36 appearances across all competitions.
As a result, he has attracted plenty of transfer interest from elite European clubs but Jurgen Klopp's side have been reckoned by many as the clear favourites to sign him.
However, according to Manchester Evening News, United have been doing an extensive data analysis to find players which suit them and Werner has emerged as one of them.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are on the lookout for a new striker and they have been recently linked with a big-money move for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.
They are unlikely to meet Spurs' staggering £200m price tag amid the coronavirus pandemic but Werner could be affordable, given he has a £51m release clause which will remain active until the end of June.
