Chelsea defender convincing Timo Werner to join the club
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly trying to convince Timo Werner to make the switch to Stamford Bridge during the next transfer window.
Werner has been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past few months but the Reds are not in a position to trigger the £50m release clause on his contract.
As a result, the Blues have received a boost in signing the marksman and Bild reports that Rudiger has spoken with his compatriot in an attempt to lure him to the west London giants this summer.
Werner has bagged 30 goals and 12 assists for Leipzig this season and his form has caught the eye of several other clubs including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Still, he appears determined to join Jurgen Klopp's side and reports claim that he could be prepared to remain with Leipzig for another year in the anticipation that the Reds will make a bid.
Liverpool are reportedly expecting a shortfall of more than £100m over the next year because of the coronavirus pandemic and they are unlikely to make any high-profile signings ahead of next season.
