Chelsea are favourites to sign Brazilian left-back

Chelsea are deemed as the front-runners to land the signature of Alex Telles from Porto during this summer's transfer window.

The Brazil international has been in superb form for Porto this term and has bagged 10 goals and nine assists while playing from the left-back role.

His form has caught the eye of several European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and it was recently reported that they were the favourites to sign him.

However, according to Tuttosport, that does not appear the case and it is claimed that the Blues have a good lead over Les Parisiens in the player's pursuit.

Furthermore, it is claimed that they have made progress in the negotiations with Telles' agent Pini Zahavi, who has a close and friendly relationship with owner Roman Abramovich.

Telles currently has a £33.5m release clause on his contract and it appears that the Blues are willing to trigger the figure such that they can beat Les Parisiens to his services.

The arrival of Telles could pave the way for the departure of either Marcos Alonso or Emerson. Emerson seems the likelier candidate to head through the exit door.
