Partey open to Atleti stay

Thomas Partey is reportedly said to favour the signing of a new deal with Atletico Madrid despite the interest from Arsenal.

The midfielder has been heavily linked with the north London side in recent months but the club have yet to trigger the £44m release clause in his contract.

A number of other clubs including Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping an eye on the situation but it appears that Atleti are in a good position to extend his stay.

Partey has been in a contract standoff with the Spanish giants in recent months but Mundo Deportivo claims that the midfielder's top priority remains to sign a fresh deal with Atleti.

The Ghana international has been offered the chance to double his £66,000-a-week wages but he is said to demand at least £150,000-a-week to commit his future to the club.

Diego Simeone remains a huge admirer of the 26-year-old midfielder and reports claim that the Madrid outfit will eventually meet the player's requirements for an extension beyond June 2023.
