Chelsea unlikely to sign Kai Havertz

Chelsea have not made any progress in their attempt to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window.

The Blues have already strengthened their attack with the purchase of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and they are close to landing the signature of Timo Werner.

A recent report from The Sun claimed that the Blues could continue their spending with the purchase of Havertz, who could cost around £75m.

The club have yet to make any bid for the German and The Athletic claims that they are unlikely to pursue the attacker's services this summer.

It is added that the Bundesliga side are set to demand in excess of £90m for the 21-year-old forward and the Blues won't be able to afford the price tag.

The capital outfit are said to be keen on bringing in a new left-back and central defender and that could remain the priority over the next few months.

Chelsea restart their league campaign with an away trip to Aston Villa.
