Liverpool are reportedly determined to lure midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich during the next transfer window.

Alcantara has recently turned down a contract extension with Bayern and he is now expected to be sold with his current deal expiring in 12 months' time.

A recent report from Sport claimed that the Reds were in very advanced talks to sign the midfielder. The same publication adds that the club have a 'place reserved' for the 29-year-old in their midfield.

Alcantara has made 231 appearances for the German champions over the past seven years, but he has declined the option of a renewal with the view to pursuing a fresh challenge.

The assurance of regular playing time will be a major factor in choosing his next club and Jurgen Klopp is prepared to guarantee him a starting berth in the centre of the park.

Bayern have set an asking price of around £32m for Alcantara. They are deemed to be looking for a similar fee for Alaba, who has yet to sign a new deal beyond June 2021.
