Chelsea need to sell Jorginho ahead of Havertz move

Chelsea are reportedly looking to sanction the sale of midfielder Jorginho as they look to raise funds for the purchase of Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz.

The west London giants are leading the race to sign the Germany international this summer, but they are currently not in a position to meet Leverkusen's £70m price tag.

According to The Mirror, the Blues are in need of additional funds to make a formal bid for Havertz and they are currently looking at the prospect of offloading Jorginho.

The Italy international has earned only 12 minutes of first-team football following the COVID-19 break and Frank Lampard has preferred Billy Gilmour ahead of him in the pecking order for the holding midfield role.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the past and the Blues are hopeful that the Bianconeri will make a bid for his services despite their recent purchase of Arthur from Barcelona.

Bianconeri boss Maurizio Sarri has worked with Jorginho at both Chelsea and Napoli and reports claim that he could be interested in a reunion. The Italian could be available for around £35m.
