Liverpool open talks to sign Spanish midfielder
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Bayern Munich to secure the signing of midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The Reds have been fancied to sign the Spain international over the past few weeks, but they have not made any progress towards a deal.
However, according to Bild, it appears that the club are in talks with Bayern and are hopeful of negotiating the price for the player's transfer.
Bayern want around £30m for the sale of Thiago, but Jurgen Klopp's side remain optimistic that they can negotiate a lesser fee.
Thiago is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League this summer and he has the preference of playing under manager Klopp.
Manchester City are currently keeping tabs on the situation and could pounce for the player's services, suppose the Reds are unable to strike a deal.
Pep Guardiola was responsible for recruiting Thiago at Bayern in 2013 and a reunion could be on the cards ahead of next season.
