Chelsea to make opening bid for Chilwell

Chelsea are planning to make a bid worth £55m to land the signature of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City this summer.

The England international has been heavily linked with the Blues in recent months with manager Frank Lampard identifying him as the prime target to strengthen the left-back position.

Leicester's £80m price tag has been mentioned as a potential stumbling block over the past few weeks, but it appears that they have softened their stance, particularly with the defender keen on joining the Blues.

The west London giants are planning to make an opening bid of around £55m for the 23-year-old and remain optimistic that the offer will be sufficient to convince the Foxes into selling him.

The Blues have been linked with several left-back options and that includes Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico and Real Madrid's Sergio Reguilon, who is currently on loan at Sevilla.

Both players are available for a relatively cheaper price of £22m, but the Blues appear determined to land the services of Chilwell, primarily due to his prior Premier League experience.
