Mesut Ozil and Sokratis left out of Arsenal's Europa League squad
Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have been left out of the Arsenal squad for the group stage of the Europa League.
Ozil has been out of contention under Mikel Arteta since the project restart last term and it is quite clear that he is no longer in the plans of manager.
The same has been the case with Sokratis, who has dropped down the pecking order for the central defensive role after the signing of Gabriel.
Sokratis was linked with a potential move to Napoli earlier this summer, but a deal failed to materialise over his refusal to take a pay-cut.
According to Football.London's James Benge, both players have failed to make the cut for the 25-man Europa League squad for the group stages.
Meanwhile, the experienced duo could also be left from the Premier League squad which will be submitted in the fourth week of October.
The Gunners can only register 17 non-homegrown players in the 25-man squad, but they currently have 19 players that fall into that category.
