Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the performances of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde amid the uncertainty over Paul Pogba's future.

The Red Devils recently triggered a 12-month option in Pogba's contract and the Frenchman's current deal does not expire until the summer of 2022.

Despite this, there are said to be planning for the future, considering Pogba could be reluctant to extend his contract beyond that period.

According to The Sun, the Mancunian giants are keeping an eye on Valverde and they could propose a swap deal involving Pogba.

Pogba recently said that he has the dream of representing Los Blancos, but reports in Spain claim that Zinedine Zidane may not sanction the deal.

Zidane has identified Rennes' teenager Eduardo Camavinga as the prime target and Los Blancos are expected to make a fresh approach next summer.

They had enquired over the possibility of signing him earlier in July, but were put off by Rennes' £75m demands for the Frenchman.
