Arsenal to return for Houssem Aouar in January
Arsenal are likely to make a fresh approach to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar during the January transfer window.
The Frenchman was one of their prime targets for the summer, but they could not reach a suitable agreement with Les Gones.
They were willing to pay around £35m for Aouar, but that fell short of Les Gones' £50m, which was non-negotiable.
According to Football.London, the capital outfit will look to recoup additional funds in January from the sale of outcasts such as Sokratis.
It is added that they could make an improved bid for Aouar thereafter with manager Mikel Arteta wanting to add more creativity in the ranks.
The north London giants made the standout signing on deadline day as they landed the services of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.
Partey had an impressive full debut against Rapid Wien in the Europa League and he could start his first Premier League game on Sunday.
The Gunners are scheduled to host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.
