Red Bull Salzburg chief fancies £65m star to join Liverpool

Erling Haaland news

Haaland tipped to join Liverpool

Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund believes Erling Haaland will make the move to Liverpool in the future.

The Norwegian netted 29 goals from 27 outings for Salzburg during the first half of last season before he made the switch to Borussia Dortmund.

He has since established himself without any difficulty and has already scored 24 goals from 27 matches across all competitions.

Speaking to Sky90, Freund said that Haaland's next destination could be Liverpool, he told during an interview with Lothar Mathaus: "He will land there [on whether he could join Liverpool]"

"He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will and self confidence, he will be able to make a mark on European football in the next ten years."

Haaland has a long-term contract with Dortmund, but he has a release clause worth £65m which will become active at the end of next season.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been regularly linked with his services, having failed to sign him in the 2020 winter transfer window.
