Lampard updates on Havertz's condition

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Kai Havertz is currently isolating at home after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Germany international was diagnosed with the coronavirus on Tuesday and that meant that he missed the European meeting against Rennes.

In his absence, the Blues registered a comfortable 3-0 win over the French side and speaking after the game, Lampard said:

"Kai is at home isolating and he’s disappointed because he just wants to play. He had minor symptoms yesterday which escalated a bit today but he’s fine."

Havertz is expected to miss Saturday's clash against Sheffield United in the Premier League and will also play no part for Germany.

Lampard will be hoping that the playmaker can make a swift recovery such that he can return to action after the international break.

Chelsea are currently seventh in the Premier League standings with 12 points, four adrift of table-toppers Liverpool.

They will be eyeing a fourth-straight victory in all competitions when Sheffield make the trip to Stamford Bridge.
