Manchester United and Liverpool are among the top Premier League clubs, who are monitoring the progress of Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.

Barella joined the Nerazzurri from Cagliari last summer and he has since accumulated four goals and 12 assists from 50 games across all competitions.

He has also established himself as a regular with the Italian national side in the same period and it is no surprise that he is being linked with other clubs.

According to FC Inter News, United and Liverpool are both tracking the midfielder with a view to a future move for his services.

However, Inter don't have any plans to sell their prized asset and they are instead looking to commit him to a fresh long-term contract.

His current contract does not expire until the summer of 2024, but Inter are prepared to offer him another year with a significant pay rise.

The 23-year-old is presently earning around €2.5m annually and the Nerazzurri are willing to offer him as much as €4m through the renewal.
