Frank Lampard updates on Christian Pulisic's fitness
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has provided a fitness update on Christian Pulisic ahead of the Champions League clash against Rennes on Tuesday.
The USA international has been out of action with a hamstring injury since early October, but he is one of the cusp of making his comeback.
Speaking ahead of the Rennes clash, Lampard revealed that Pulisic won't face the Ligue 1 side, given he still needs to improve physically after the lay-off.
However, he added that the versatile attacker could make his comeback at the weekend when the Blues host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
"Christian stays back and doesn’t travel but the good news he has had good progression. The reason he is staying back is to get some physical work in to hopefully have him ready for selection for this weekend," He told.
Pulisic's Blues career has been hampered by multiple injury concerns, but he still has a good record with 12 goals and 10 assists from 39 outings for the west London giants.
He was expected to return to training earlier this month, but a minor recurrence of a hamstring problem meant that his recovery process was delayed.
