Tottenham Hotspur keen on signing Bundesliga striker
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a January move to sign Mainz 05 striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Spurs have made an excellent start to the Premier League campaign and they are presently top of the standings after nine games.
According to Calciomercato, Jose Mourinho could be backed with funds to strengthen the squad in January in order to boost the club's title prospects.
It is added that Mateta has emerged as a potential winter target after netting 10 goals from just nine games in all competitions this term.
Napoli have also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old marksman, who has represented France at the Under-21 level.
Spurs signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica this summer to provide the back-up to Harry Kane, but he has not scored in his four outings.
His services have not been required in the top-flight where Kane has been in stellar form alongside Heung-min Son.
Still, Kane has suffered injury setbacks during the backend of recent seasons and Spurs will want to have the position well covered.
