Manchester United cool interest in Bundesliga defender
Manchester United are no longer in the running to sign defender Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.
The Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on his progress in recent months and it has been previously reported that they could look to sign him.
Upamecano penned a fresh contract earlier in the summer, but he has a £38m release clause which will become active in June 2021.
Hence, he has been linked regularly with high-profile clubs, but The Athletic claims that the Red Devils have cooled their interest.
Furthermore, it is mentioned that Bayern Munich are the front-runners to land him during next summer's transfer window.
The Bavarian giants are bracing for the departures of David Alaba and Jerome Boateng when their contracts expire at the end of the season.
They have already ended negotiations with Alaba and so far, the hierarchy have yet to propose a new deal for Boateng.
Upamecano has made 16 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions this term
