Manchester United in talks to sign David Alaba?

Manchester United have reportedly joined the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona in the race to sign David Alaba.

The Austrian has spent his entire career with Bayern Munich, but he is expected to leave them when his contract expires next summer following a breakdown in negotiations.

He has been linked with a number of high-profile sides including Liverpool and Barcelona, but Bild claims that the Red Devils could also be in the running to sign him.

The Mancunian giants are on the hunt for a new central defender and Alaba perfectly fits their requirement, having excelled in the position over the past year for Bayern.

Alaba, who has made 400 appearances for the German champions, will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club in January and United will be hoping to steal the march for his signature.

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been the regular pairing in the central defence for United, but there have been questions raised over the latter's displays over the past year.
