Arsenal to back Mikel Arteta with transfer funds?

Arteta to be handed January funds to strengthen squad

The Arsenal hierarchy are prepared to hand Mikel Arteta with a transfer warchest in order to bolster the squad next month.

The Gunners have experienced a torrid start to the 2020-21 campaign and they are just four points adrift of the drop zone after 14 matches.

One of their main concerns has been the limited creativity in the final third and they are expected to address the issue at the turn of the year.

According to The Mail, the Gunners boss will be offered funds to strengthen the squad in January and an attacking midfielder will be the priority.

Dominik Szoboszlai was recently mentioned as the top target for the club, but he has now made switch to RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg.

Hence, the north London side may have to switch their focus back to Houssem Aouar whom they failed to sign from Lyon in the summer.

Elsewhere, Norwich City's Emiliano Buendia has also emerged as a potential target with manager Arteta said to admire his qualities.
