Fabrizio Romano updates on Arsenal's winter transfer plans
Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects to sign a new midfielder during the January transfer window.
The north London giants have experienced a disappointing Premier League campaign and they are currently 11th on the table with 23 points from 17 matches.
They have recently seen an uptrend in league form with three wins on the bounce, but Arteta is still said to be keen on pursuing a creative midfielder this month, as per Romano.
The Gunners are looking to offload unwanted players this month and they have already sent Sead Kolasinac back to Schalke 04 on loan. The German side have agreed to pay his wages.
Mesut Ozil is another player that the club want to show the exit door. They recently offered him to Juventus, but the Bianconeri rejected the proposal as they are prepared to keep their faith on Dejan Kulusevski.
Arsenal will host Newcastle United in the FA Cup third round this weekend.
