Liverpool enter race for Chelsea target Mohamed Simakan
Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign highly-rated Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan.
The Reds could be without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the season after they suffered serious knee injuries.
Jurgen Klopp has stated that the club are unlikely to pursue a new centre-back this month, but that has not stopped the speculation.
According to Telefoot, the Merseyside giants are monitoring the progress of the 20-year-old and are contemplating whether to make a bid.
Chelsea are one of the contenders for the young centre-back while the likes of AC Milan and RB Leipzig have also shown interest in signing him.
Simakan has rebuilt his reputation with his strong tackling and interception qualities and he is reportedly valued at around £18m.
Milan are said to have already made contact with Strasbourg for his services, but the French outfit are prepared to weigh up all offers.
Simakan has made 18 starts for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this season.
