Manchester United keen on signing £53m Portuguese star?
Manchester United have reportedly enquired over the availability of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Pedro Goncalves.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Sporting this term and he has bagged 12 goals and two assists from just 14 league games.
His form has caught the eye of both United and Liverpool, but Record claims that the former are leading the race to sign him.
Goncalves, who spent two years in the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy, currently has a release clause worth £53m on his contract.
United appear prepared to meet the valuation in the summer as they aim to bring another creative midfielder in their ranks.
The club have a good relationship with Sporting, having signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Marcos Rojo and most recently Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has been a revelation for United since his arrival 12 months ago. He has bagged a stunning tally of 28 goals and 18 assists from 53 games.
He is now regarded as one of the first names on the team sheet, but United are looking for further midfield reinforcements to boost their title prospects.
