Chelsea want to sign Jerome Boateng?
Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea during this summer's transfer window.
The Blues are likely to sign a new centre-back in the summer and manager Thomas Tuchel is said to prefer someone from the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano and Bayern's David Alaba were previously mentioned as targets, but the Blues could miss out on both of them.
Upamecano appears likely to join Bayern at the end of the season while reports suggest Alaba will head to Real Madrid on a free transfer.
According to SportBild, the club have now earmarked Boateng as an option and he will be available for free when his contract expires in June.
The west London giants already have an experienced centre-back Thiago Silva in the squad, but they are still said to hold an interest in Boateng.
Silva's Blues deal expires in the summer, but the Blues can extend his stay for another 12 months with a clause available on his contract.
