Mikel Arteta reacts to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's display vs Leeds
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his stunning performance against Leeds United.
The Gunners returned to winning ways on Sunday evening with a 4-2 Premier League triumph over the Whites at the Emirates Stadium.
Aubameyang, who was making his first start in five league games, was the star of the show as he bagged his maiden hat-trick in the competition.
Speaking after the game, Arteta lavished praise on the marksman, who was back to his old self after a short absence due to family reasons.
"I thought he was superb today, he has been training really good the last week or so, he looked back to normal," he was quoted as saying by Football.London.
He looked really committed in training, really hungry and today he had a great performance, not only for the goals but the way he worked without the ball and the way he worked every Leeds defender, he set the tone."
The Gunners have jumped to the 10th spot with the victory and they are now within six points off Liverpool, who are occupying the final Champions League place.
They will shift to Europa League action on Thursday night where they are scheduled to face Benfica in the first leg of the round of 32. The away leg will be placed in Rome due to the quarantine restrictions in Portugal.
