Manchester United aiming to sign La Liga defender for €70m
Manchester United are reportedly aiming to land the signature of Jules Kounde from Sevilla during the summer transfer window.
Kounde has transformed into one of La Liga's best centre-backs and that has grabbed the attention of elite clubs including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
According to La Razon, the Red Devils are aware of the transfer interest and they are prepared to open negotiations in advance for the French defender.
Kounde's current deal has a release clause worth €90m and United are prepared to offer around €70m to finalise a transfer agreement for the summer.
It is unclear whether Sevilla will accept the proposal, given Les Parisiens are capable of meeting the buy-out clause in full with the financial backing from their owners.
United currently have Harry Maguire as the first-choice centre-back and he has been partnered by either Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly in the league this season.
Lindelof has been inconsistent with his displays while Bailly has often been injured during his United career. Kounde is seen as someone who can form a solid partnership with Maguire.
