Manchester United prepared to move for Real Madrid defender
Manchester United will make an attempt to sign Raphael Varane, should he decide to leave Real Madrid this summer.
The Frenchman has been with Los Blancos for nearly a decade and he has accumulated 350 appearances in all competitions.
Despite this, it is unclear whether he will remain with the club next term, given his current deal expires in 16 months' time.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Varane is reluctant to sign a new contract with Los Blancos and that may pave the way for his exit this summer.
United have been long-term admirers of the former Lens graduate and it is reported that they will make an offer, if he is available for purchase.
Still, the 2018 World Cup winner may not come on the cheap and there are suggestions that Los Blancos may demand around £61m.
Aside from United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old.
Varane's regular partner Sergio Ramos could also leave Madrid this summer. His contract expires in June and he has yet to agree on a renewal.
