Chelsea plan contract talks with German star
Chelsea plan contract talks with German star
Chelsea are reportedly planning to negotiate a new contract with Antonio Rudiger following his impressive showing under Thomas Tuchel.
The centre-back was largely out-of-favour under former boss Frank Lampard and he made only four league starts until January.
However, his fortunes have changed with Tuchel at the helm and has started each of the previous eight league games for the club.
He has been among the standout performers during this period and Football Insider claims that talks are scheduled over a new deal.
Rudiger's current contract expires in 16 months' time and the Blues are aiming to renew his deal before the end of the campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be monitoring the proceedings and may make an approach for Rudiger in case there is a disagreement.
Rudiger has been ever-present for the Blues in the back three under Tuchel and is expected to start against Everton on Monday night.
The Blues are currently fourth in the standings with 47 points.
