Chelsea are set to compete with Arsenal for the signature of Ibrahima Konate this summer.

The 21-year-old has been with RB Leipzig for the past four years where he has accumulated 88 appearances in all competitions.

He has played less than 30 games since the beginning of last season due to injuries, but has still been attracting plenty of interest.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has identified the centre-back as a top target for the summer, but the Blues appear to have entered the race.

According to Bild's Christian Falk, there is genuine interest from the Blues and assistant manager Zsolt Low may play a key role in luring Konate.

Low previously coached Konate at Leipzig before he joined the backroom staff of now-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at PSG.

Konate has a release clause worth £39m on his contract which is likely to become active at the end of the campaign.

Leipzig are set to lose Dayot Upamecano to Bayern Munich this summer and it remains to be seen whether they will sanction Konate's sale.
