Manchester United held talks with Bundesliga winger

Leon Bailey news

United made contact with Bailey's agent in January

Manchester United reportedly held talks with the agent of Leon Bailey during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been impressive for Bayer Leverkusen this term, registering 12 goals and nine assists from 32 games.

He has been linked with a Premier League move in recent years and journalist Jonathan Shrager claims that United made contact with his agent.

Bailey will have two years remaining on his contract this summer and it is reported that Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are also interested in him.

Leverkusen parted ways with Kai Havertz for a significant fee of around £67m last summer and they may command a similar sum for Bailey.

The Jamaica international has found much of his success from the right wing for Leverkusen with eight goals and six assists from 19 games.

That is the position which United are aiming to strengthen this summer and Bailey appears an option for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League standings with 51 points, 14 adrift of runaway leaders Manchester City.
