Martial could be out injured for the rest of the season

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Anthony Martial could be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Frenchman has had a tough season with the Red Devils and he has netted only four goals in 22 league appearances.

He is on course for his worst campaign since 2016/17, and it appears that he could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Martial recently sustained a knee injury on international duty, and Solskjaer is unsure whether he will play again this term.

He told MUTV: "Losing Anthony for what might be the rest of the season is very disappointing, especially when reports from there [France] was that it wasn’t anything serious but it looks a bad one."

Despite Martial's injury, United have the striker's position well covered with the presence of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood.

Rashford has, however, excelled on the left wing. Cavani and Greenwood could compete for the centre-forward role for the rest of the campaign.
