Chelsea enter the race to sign Real Madrid star
Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
The Blues have hugely impressed in the Premier League since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as the manager in January.
They are in a good position to finish in the top four at the moment, and could also go on to win the FA Cup and Champions League.
Irrespective of what happens, they are likely to back Tuchel with transfer funds this summer, and the priority could lie on signing a centre-back.
Varane is reportedly the top target for Tuchel, and the Blues could offer fierce competition to the Red Devils to secure his services.
The 27-year-old has only 14 months left on his Madrid contract, and he has yet to be convinced to sign a new long-term deal.
The World Cup winner is understood to favour a move to the Premier League this summer if he leaves Los Blancos.
Los Blancos will demand around £63m for the centre-back, who has made 356 appearances for them over the past decade.
