Barcelona have reportedly open talks with the representatives of Sergio Aguero as they look to land his signature ahead of Chelsea.

The Argentine has netted a stunning tally of 258 goals over the past decade for Manchester City, but he will leave them when his contract expires this summer.

He has been linked with several high-profile clubs across Europe, but Sky Sports News claims that the Blaugrana are leading the hunt for his services.

Aguero is free to negotiate terms with an overseas club, and the Catalan giants are aiming to take advantage, having already made contact with his agents.

The 32-year-old is reportedly open to the prospect of joining the Blaugrana this summer. He is keen on a reunion with compatriot and close friend Lionel Messi.

Messi has yet to commit to a new Barcelona contract beyond June, but reports suggest that Aguero's arrival will convince him to extend his two-decade long stay.

Aguero has had a tough season due to injuries, coronavirus and competition for places. He has bagged just four goals from 17 appearances in all competitions.
