Liverpool tipped to sign Italian midfielder with £25m release clause

Liverpool have been tipped to land the signature of AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini during the summer transfer window.

The Italian has had a fine season with the Giallorossi, registering nine goals and eight assists from 43 games in all competitions.

He has one year remaining on his contract, and The Mirror claims that he could be heading for the exit door in a few months' time.

Roma recently appointed Jose Mourinho as their manager from next season, and the Portuguese is planning to overhaul the midfield options.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has his sights on signing Premier League-based players with Erik Lamela and Nemanja Matic among his top targets.

Pellegrini, who was promoted as the club captain earlier this year, has stalled over a new contract, and he is likely to be offloaded.

He has a release clause worth £25 million on his contract, and it is claimed that the Reds will be favourites to sign him during the summer.
