Mikel Arteta speaks on Arsenal's plans for Martin Odegaard
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Martin Odegaard's future after the 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Gunners ended the league campaign on a strong note with five successive victories, but still failed to qualify for European football.
Following the game, Arteta was asked whether the Gunners will re-sign Odegaard after an impressive loan stint.
The Spaniard said that he has no control over the situation, but remains hopeful that Odegaard would be tempted to rejoin.
He told football.london: "I don’t know – it’s not in our hands. He has adapted really well to our way of playing and our football club.
"Hopefully we have given him as well the hope and the feeling that it could be a good place for him."
Odegaard made 20 appearances for the Gunners after the temporary move from Real Madrid in January. He bagged two goals and two assists.
The Norwegian also created several chances on goal for his teammates, and has certainly left a good impression on the Gunners' hierarchy.
There are suggestions that the Gunners could propose to sign him on a season-long loan deal from Los Blancos when the transfer window reopens.
