Chelsea agree contract terms with £110,000-a-week defender
Chelsea have agreed to extend Thiago Silva's contract for another season, reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.
The Brazil international had an impressive debut campaign for the Blues, registering 34 appearances across all competitions.
He had a few injury concerns along the way, but the club have mutually agreed to extend his £110,000-a-week contract for another season.
Despite the extension, the club are actively on the search for another central defender ahead of this summer's transfer window.
They are interested in Real Madrid star Raphael Varane, who could be available for around £60m after snubbing a new deal.
Manchester United have also been linked with the World Cup winner, but they are reluctant to meet the reported price tag.
The Blues recently beat Manchester City to the Champions League title, and this could boost their summer transfer plans.
They are planning another big spending spree, and could bring in as many as five players during the forthcoming transfer window.
