Chelsea suffer Romelu Lukaku transfer blow

Lukaku confirms Inter Milan stay

Chelsea have suffered a transfer blow with Romelu Lukaku deciding to stay with Inter Milan next season.

The Belgian had a superb 2020/21 campaign for the Nerazzurri, netting 30 goals in all competitions.

His efforts helped the club win the Serie A after 11 years, but there has been speculation that he could leave.

The Nerazzurri recently parted ways with manager Antonio Conte after a disagreement over the transfer strategy.

It was claimed that Lukaku could follow him through the exit door with concrete interest from the Blues.

However, he has now dismissed the claims by confirming that he will remain with the San Siro outfit next term.

Lukaku added that he has already spoken with new boss Simone Inzaghi, and feels good at the Nerazzurri.

He told VTM: “Yes, I am staying. I’ve already had contact with the man who will become our new manager.”

“It was a very positive conversation. There’s also the challenge of [winning the league] again. I feel good at Inter.”

The Blues had identified Lukaku as their top target to bolster the centre-forward department.

They will have to look elsewhere with manager Thomas Tuchel eager to sign a world-class striker.
