Arsenal identify £36m playmaker as their main target
Arsenal are prioritising a move for Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard this summer, football.london claims.
The Gunners recently missed out on signing Emiliano Buendia as Aston Villa outbid them to the Argentine's signature.
The north London club had a 'serious interest' in the 24-year-old, but they were reluctant to match the Villans' £33m offer.
It is now reported that Odegaard remains the top target for the summer transfer window after an impressive loan spell last term.
The Norwegian joined the Gunners in January, and he made a good impact with two goals and two assists from 20 appearances.
More than his goal contributions, he earned plaudits for his intelligent passing which created chances for his teammates.
Gunners technical director Edu Gaspar is convinced that the club can re-sign Odegaard in a temporary or permanent deal this summer.
Odegaard is valued at around £36m by Transfermarkt. He has two years remaining on his existing contract with the Madrid giants.
