Manchester United face PSG competition for £80m defender
Manchester United are set to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Varane has been with Los Blancos since 2011, but he could end his association with the club in the coming months.
He has 12 months left on his contract, and talks over a possible extension have reached a standstill due to his demands.
United have already failed with an opening £50m bid for Varane. Madrid are looking for around £80m to sell him.
According to Footmercato, Les Parisiens have now joined the pursuit of the central defender, who started his career at Lens.
Varane is reportedly open to returning home after a decade, and Les Parisiens are aiming to take advantage.
Unlike United, Les Parisiens may not enter the negotiation table, and they could pay the fee outright for the defender.
This could prove a huge blow for the Red Devils, who have been long-time admirers of the 2018 World Cup winner.
