They are in advanced negotiations with Brighton for White. They have failed with two bids for the centre-back with the highest being £45m.

The Gunners are confident of sealing the deal with an improved third offer.

Arsenal start their league campaign with a Friday night kick-off against newly-promoted Brentford on August 13.
