William Saliba to join Marseille on loan
Arsenal defender William Saliba is set to join Marseille on loan for the forthcoming campaign.
The centre-back has been with the Gunners since 2019, but he has yet to make his debut for them.
He spent the second half of last season on loan with Nice, and he looks set to return to Ligue 1.
Les Phoceens have agreed a loan fee with the Gunners, but the deal does not include a buy option.
The Gunners want Saliba to gain more first-team experience, and regard him as part of their future plans.
It was anticipated that Saliba would make the breakthrough after the recent departure of David Luiz.
However, the Gunners have decided to pursue a new centre-back during the ongoing transfer window.
They are in advanced negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion for defender Ben White.
They are close to agreeing a £50m deal for the 23-year-old, who is currently on Euro 2020 duty.
White could join them following England's European campaign.
