Arsenal's move for James Maddison gathers pace
Newcastle United look set to sign Joe Willock for £25 million from Arsenal, leaving the door open for the Gunners to complete a move for James Maddison. The midfielder will double his salary at the Emirates Stadium.
Maddison, who was used sparingly at times last season, has indicated that he would be prepared to leave the Foxes for a bigger club. Arsenal's recent form, of course, is no where near that of Leicester City's, but the Gunners are hopeful that a move for a player of James' calibre will boost their hopes of European qualification for the upcoming 2021/22 campaign.
As reported by eyefootball last week, Arsenal had their last offer of £55 million rejected for Maddison. However, with a move for Joe Willock to Newcastle United all but complete, the Gunners seem to have raised enough funds to submit a new offer of £60 million for the attacking midfielder.
Maddison has a contract until 2024 with Leicester City and is said to be very happy at the Foxes, and has a good rapport with club manager Brendan Rodgers.
