Roma interested in another Arsenal midfielder

Roma could return to the negotiation table with Arsenal in order to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira this month.

The Giallorossi were keen on landing Granit Xhaka earlier this summer, but they were put off by the €35m price tag.

Xhaka has since signed a new three-year deal with the Gunners. An official announcement is expected in the coming days.

Football.london now claims that the Serie A outfit could still do business with the Gunners with their interest in Torreira.

Torreira is deemed surplus to requirements at the north London club, and he has been linked with Lazio in recent weeks.

The Gunners are expected to cut their losses on the Uruguayan, who was purchased from Sampdoria for €25m in 2018.

They are willing to sell him for around €15m. It remains to be seen whether Roma will meet the price tag for his services.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be driving Roma's pursuit of Torreira. They are set to face stiff competition from Lazio.
