Arsenal confirm signing of 23-year-old goalkeeper
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a long-term contract.
The England youth international has signed a four-year deal with the Gunners with the option for another 12 months.
The 23-year-old was the club's prime goalkeeper target, and they have paid an initial £24m to land his signature.
The transfer package could rise to £30m when Ramsdale becomes an established goalkeeper at the north London club.
Ramsdale is the club's fifth signing of the ongoing transfer window.
The Gunner have also signed Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Ben White and Martin Odegaard this summer.
Ramsdale has been registered for the London derby against Chelsea this weekend, but he is likely to stay on the bench.
Bernd Leno remains the undisputed number one. Ramsdale has been signed as a long-term replacement of the German.
Leno has less than two years remaining on his contract, and there is speculation that he could be sold next summer.
