Chelsea still working on signing Jules Kounde
Chelsea continue to remain interested in signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, a report from The Telegraph claims.
The Blues have made just one outfield signing this summer. Romelu Lukaku was re-signed from Inter Milan for €115m.
They are eyeing one more marquee signing before the transfer deadline, and Kounde is reportedly the prime target.
The club attempted to sign him in a part-exchange deal involving Kurt Zouma last month, but the proposal was rejected.
Sevilla prefer a straight-cash deal. Kounde's release clause has increased from €80m to €90m for the final two weeks of the window.
However, it is widely reported that a fee of around €70m could be sufficient to prise him away from the Andalusian outfit.
Kounde has already agreed personal terms with the European champions, and is eager to join them before the deadline.
Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in him, but Kounde made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League.
The Blues are continuing their pursuit of Kounde despite the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah, who has been earning plaudits.
